MARY MOTHER OF GOD FIRST EVENING SONG

SONGS OF THE PEOPLE OF GOD MARY MOTHER OF GOD MARY MOTHER OF GOD EVENING PRAYER I FIRST VESPERS OF MARY MOTHER OF GOD RECORDED FULL SERVICES Antiphon  O wonderful exchange! The Creator of human nature took on a human body  and was born of the Virgin. He became man without having a human father  and has bestowed on us his divine nature. I O admirábile commércium! Creátor géneris humáni, animátum corpus sumens,  de Vírgine nasci dignátus est; et, procédens homo sine sémine, largítus est nobis suam deitátem. . PSALM 113 Praise, servants of the Lord,   praise the name of the Lord. Laudáte, púeri Dómini,*   laudáte nomen Dómini. Antiphon You were born of the Virgin in a mysterious manner  of which no man can speak; you fulfilled the scriptures;  like rain falling gently on the earth you came hither to save the human race.  We praise you: you are our God. Quando natus es ineffabíliter ex Vírgine, tunc implétæ sunt Scriptúræ:  sicut plúvia in vellus descendísti, ut salvum fáceres genus humá

CHILDERMAS: INTRODUCTION

A Service of Nine Lessons and Canticles  for Childermas   GOD'S PREFERENTIAL LOVE FOR CHILDREN BACKGROUND “Childermas was the English name for the feast that the Roman Breviary has called Holy Innocents. The Latins keep the feast on 28 December, the Greeks on 29 December, the Syrians and Chaldeans on 27 December. The Armenians keep it on Monday after the Second Sunday after Pentecost because they believe the children were killed fifteen weeks after the birth of Christ.”  –The Catholic Encyclopedia.   The service may be used not only in the days and weeks after Christmas, it may be used during most of the year to remind us of God's preferential love for children and childhood as a model for Christian spirituality.  The Western Churches have been ambivalent about how to celebrate this feast, sometimes using the color red with Gloria and Alleluia to emphasize their martyrdom but at other times mourning by using the color purple and omitting the Gloria and Alleluia –The Catholic E
