ANGLICAN PSALTER

MONTHLY (THIRTY DAY ANGLICAN) PSALTER

Praying the Psalms Consecutively

In monastic traditions, the psalms were often prayed consecutively in the order that they occur in the Book of Psalms. Often the whole psalter was prayed in a week. In the Byzantine tradition it is prayed twice a week in Lent.  Some monks recited it in a day while other monks emphasized the slow meditative praying of the psalter without trying to fit it into a time frame.

The following list of Psalm Posts will help the reader find each psalm even if one is not praying them in order, or in a particular time frame.

The following are the psalms appointed in the Book of Common Prayer for the morning and the evening of each of the first thirty days of the month.  For February, Day 29 is said only in leap year, and Day 30 is always omitted. When a month has 31 days, the psalms for Day 30 are repeated.

In the posts for MORNING PRAISE and EVENING SONG and extra psalm or two is added to the two from the ROMAN FOUR WEEK PSALTER under the label of ANGLICAN THIRTY DAY PSALTER. These
