RECORDED SERVICES

Divine Office Evening Prayer I 1st Sunday of Lent February 20, 2021

Antiphon
With humbled spirit and a contrite  heart may we be accepted, O God;
 let our sacrifice this day be pleasing to you

In spíritu humilitátis et in ánimo contríto suscipiámur, Dómine, a te;
et sic fiat sacrifícium nostrum, ut suscipiátur a te hódie et pláceat tibi, Dómine Deus..

* PSALM 141 *

O Lord, I call on you,
  hurry to my help:
  listen to my voice when I call.

PSALM 140:1-9
Dómine, clamávi ad te, ad me festína;*
  inténde voci meæ, cum clamo ad te.

Antiphon
If you call, God will hear you; if you cry out, God will say, ‘Here I am.’

Tunc invocábis et Dóminus exáudiet; clamábis et dicet: Ecce adsum.

* PSALM 142 *

My voice cries out to the Lord;
  my voice cries out its entreaty.

PSALM 141:2-8
Voce mea ad Dóminum clamo,*
  voce mea ad Dóminum déprecor;

Antiphon
Christ suffered for our sins.
The Just One for the unjust, he offered himself to God.
Although put to death in the flesh; he was given life in the Spirit.

Christus pro peccátis nostris mórtuus est, iustus pro iniústis,
ut nos offérret Deo, mortificátus quidem carne, vivificátus autem Spíritu.

CANTICLE PHILIPPIANS 2

Jesus Christ, although he shared God’s nature,
  did not try to cling to his equality with God;

PHILIPPIANS 2:6-11
Christus Iesus, cum in forma Dei esset,*
  non rapínam arbitrátus est esse se æquálem Deo,

Short Responsory
Hear us, O God, and have mercy, for we have sinned against you.
Listen, O Christ, to our humble prayers.

Responsorium breve
℣. Atténde, Dómine, et miserére,* Quia peccávimus tibi.
℟. .Exáudi, Christe, supplicántum preces.*

Antiphon
Jesus was in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan.
 While he was with wild beasts, angels ministered to him.

Jesus erat in desérto quadragínta diébus et tentabátur a Sátana;
erátque cum béstiis et ángeli ministrábant illi.
