A Service of Nine Lessons and Canticles  for Childermas   GOD'S PREFERENTIAL LOVE FOR CHILDREN BACKGROUND “Childermas was the English name for the feast that the Roman Breviary has called Holy Innocents. The Latins keep the feast on 28 December, the Greeks on 29 December, the Syrians and Chaldeans on 27 December.
