ADVENT WEEK 1 FRIDAY MORNING PRAIS
December 02, 2022
LECTIONARY OPTION
The book of Isaiah read at Lauds and VespersDRA Isaiah 6: 1-13 modernized
In the year that king Ozias died, I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne high and elevated: and his train filled the temple. Upon it stood the seraphims: the one had six wings, and the other had six wings: with two they covered his face, and with two they covered his feet, and with two they flew. And they cried one to another, and said: Holy, holy, holy, the Lord God of hosts, all the earth is full of his glory.
REHEARSAL
Service leaflet for the above:
Saint Thomas Church, Toronto
Advent Procession with Carols: Saturday 28 November 2020 Durham Cathedral 1hr 9min
During the service the choir moves from west to east, from ‘darkness to light’. First, in near-darkness, the ancient responsory sets out the Advent hope. Shortly after comes the ancient hymn Conditor alme siderum. Then, carols of our redemption alternate with Advent hymns and readings, looking not only toward our celebration of the birth of Jesus, but also of that time when he returns in glory culminating in our prayer ‘Amen: come, Lord Jesus.’
Filmed at Newman University Church in Dublin, Ireland in accordance with COVID-19 restrictions. Note: Though parts of the service may seem to have be filmed at the same time, they were filmed separately to ensure the following of COVID-19 guidelines and social distancing. No service leaflet
