STEPS TO USING THE SAINT GABRIEL HOURS BLOG

SAINT GABRIEL HOURS

This blog is my daily record of the virtual resources (YouTube links) used in praying Morning Prayer (Lauds) and Evening Prayer (Vespers). I usually post Evening Prayer sometime in the late afternoon and early evening, and Morning Prayer sometime between 6pm and 6am in the next day.

Bishop Malesic's Pastoral Letter encourages each person to pray for at least fifteen minutes daily. He is confident that person can decide for themselves the best way to pray.  Coincidentally, my website encourages each person to discern the place of the Hours in their prayer life by spending about fifteen minutes a day in prayer, roughly the time it takes to pray either Morning Prayer or Evening Prayer. I am confident that each person can decide for themselves the place of the Hours in their lives by using the resources of the website.

Building a Spiritual Support Network

The Bishop's Pastoral Letter encourages each person to develop a spiritual support network. He suggests the best place to begin is with family, friends, neighbors, and people whom we are already involved with in the parish.

In my experience, sharing and discussion our experiences at prayer is a good way to discern and build a spiritual support network. During the eighties I was a member of a mostly voluntary pastoral staff in Toledo. At each meeting we took turns leading about fifteen minutes of prayer using our very diverse ways of praying. It was one of the most enriching experiences of my life.
