WALKING AND SINGING WITH THE PEOPLE OF GOD
For health reasons, I walk forty to fifty minutes each morning and evening on a treadmill. The two above offices total about thirty-five minutes. Adding some of the additional options below brings the time to over forty-five minutes. The three options are interleaved by opening three tabs on the computer in front of the treadmill. With a little more dexterity, they could be interweaved on a cellphone of pad. The repetition of each psalm three time in three different formats provides a pleasing ritual experience. HOW TO USE THIS WEB PAGE

Antiphon
They will mourn for him as for an only son,
since it is the innocent one of the Lord who has been slain

Plangent eum quasi unigénitum,
quia ínnocens Dóminus occísus est.

PSALM 64

Listen, O God, to my voice;
keep me safe from fear of the enemy.

Psalm 63:2-11
Exáudi, Deus, vocem meam in meditatióne mea;*
a timóre inimíci custódi ánimam meam.

Antiphon
Save my soul from the gates of hell, Lord.

A porta ínferi érue, Dómine, ánimam meam.

CANTICLE ISAIAH 38

I said, in the middle of my days
I am going to the gates of the underworld.

Isaiah 38:10-14,17-20 The psalm of Hezekiah
Ego dixi: In dimídio diérum meórum†
  vadam ad portas ínferi;*

Antiphon
I was dead and now I am to live for ever and ever
and I hold the keys of death and of hell.

Ego fui mórtuus, et ecce sum vivens in sǽcula sæculórum
et hábeo claves mortis et inférni.

PSALM 150

Praise the Lord in his sanctuary,
praise him in his mighty firmament.

Laudáte Dóminum in sanctuário eius,*
laudáte eum in firmaménto virtútis eius.

Short Responsory
Christ humbled himself for us
and, in obedience, accepted death, even death on a cross.
Therefore God raised him to the heights
and gave him the name which is above all other names.

Responsorium breve
Christus factus est pro nobis
obœ́diens usque ad mortem, mortem autem crucis.
Propter quod et Deus exaltávit illum,
et dedit illi nomen, quod est super omne nomen.

Antiphon
Save us, Saviour of the world.
By your cross and the shedding of your blood you have redeemed us.
Come to help us, Lord, our God.

Salvátor mundi, salva nos;
qui per crucem et sánguinem tuum redemísti nos,
auxiliáre nobis, te deprecámur, Deus noster.
